Extraordinarily rare. This will be the crown jewel of your bottle collection! One of only two known. This particular bottle comes from Fred Holabird's personal collection. Gilt lettering: "Occidental/ Hotel/ Bodie/ Cal." Height: 13". Excellent condition.
The Occidental Hotel, the finest in Bodie, was built in 1879 and owned by J.C. Kemp and J.L. Coleman. It expanded from 28 rooms and a large parlor to 48 rooms, a dining room, and a saloon in 1880. The weekly rate was $9 which included 2 meals a day. Kemp used the upstairs as a high-end photography studio. [Ref: Geissinger, pg. 42, 2009]
